The Manifest Story

"When I was at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. many years ago, I found a copy of the passenger manifest of the ship that carried my grandparents, father, and uncles to the United States in 1955. The manifest - which was stamped with the number 37 at the top right - is a visual representation of the very first days of my family's life in the USA.

When I was trying to decide on a name for my business, I began exploring ways to give a 'nod' to my Dutch heritage, and my mind kept coming back to the passenger manifest. The word "manifest" as a verb means to 'show clearly, through signs or actions,' which aligns well with my personal values of honesty and transparency, so it made me love the 'manifest' idea even more. And thus, Manifest 37 was born."  - Joanna (van Wunnik) Newcomb
